PEACHTREE ROAD RACE

This was the third time I have run the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta. I ran it back in 2004 and 2005, as well. For those non-Atlanta natives, this is a huge 4th of July tradition in our city. The world's largest 10k race. It is HUGE. I think there were over 55,000 participants. Dan and Colleen (McCann) Cichy were in town from Colorado, so we did it together.
Let me just tell you how big this thing is: they split you up into 9 groups (several thousand in each group) and stagger your start. The race started at 7:30am and we crossed the starting line at 8:45am. We finished close to 10:15 (Dan at 9:45) and it was pretty darn HOT! They changed the last mile of the course since the last time I participated and it was pretty much all uphill. AGH! We successfully ran half of the 10k (6.2 miles) and then walked another 2-3 miles after the finish to get to our car. It was a very fun, but exhausting event! I will post our own pictures as I get them downloaded, but for now, here is a link to the photo company who took pictures along the way.......
